Water Wars Documentary Animation & Design

In late 2023 I was approached to create animated sequences and graphics for Red Aces Productions'/One Chameleon Entertainment’s documentary Water Wars (2024), which tells the story of a high stakes game for water rights between West Texas Ranchers and Farmers, Politicians and a Billionaire, played out on the battlefields of America's western desert and the Texas Supreme Court. The film was directed by Mario Mattei and produced by Philip Guitar and Jon Michael Simpson.

I worked closely with the Mario, editor Justin Barclay, Associate Producer Lauren Vunderink and the post-production team at TBD post, helping design animated transitions between chapters that enhanced the storytelling and stylistically represented the landscape in and around Dell City, TX.

In most of my past animation projects I had focused on people, with the environment playing a supporting role. What was interesting about this project is that in many cases, the landscape was the main character and I had to think about how I approached the animation in a different way.
